Supported by a narrator, the Sinfonieorchester Basel presents the splendidly bizarre story of popular Hungarian hero Háry János. One night at the inn this crafty veteran of the Habsburg army dreams up a heroic biography for himself. Zoltán Kodály saw in Háry János "the embodiment of the Hungarian imagination, the imagination that creates fairytales. The stories he tells never happened, but he experienced them – so they are true, truer than reality."
