Bilder einer Ausstellung for organ, brass and percussion (1874)
A world premiere for wind dynamic organ, soprano and new instruments. Godfather: Franz Liszt.
Plus Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, breathtakingly fresh for organ, brass and percussion.
It all began with Liszt's Fantasy and Fugue on the chorale Ad nos, ad salutarem undam. From this, Domenico Melchiorre created the composition Airë, in which his Lunason instruments, Ilja Völlmy Kudrjavtsev (organ) and Sarah Brady (soprano) take us into unheard-of sound worlds. Another breath of fresh air is the spectacular new arrangement of Mussorgsky's masterpiece by Matthias Höfs (trumpet) and Christian Schmitt (organ) with brass and percussion from the Sinfonieorchester Basel.
