A residence of Ludwig van Beethoven and Christoph Marthaler

Ludwig van Beethoven constantly changed flats during his life. In his adopted home of Vienna alone, there are well over thirty addresses. Based on 138 official (and some semi-official) compositions by Beethoven, director Christoph Marthaler, set designer Anna Viebrock and conductor Sylvain Cambreling explore the implications of constantly moving in, out and around. They also draw on numerous sketches and fragments by the composer, which can be heard in new arrangements for the Basel Symphony Orchestra. A poetically whimsical evening of music theatre about excessive living and pathological homelessness.
