Vo Bärg und Tal, folk songs for choir and full orchestra (composition commissioned by Sinfonieorchester Basel)
Whether among family members, at school or among scouts, whether childhood memories or everyday life – folk songs connect people across generations. And it doesn’t matter where we come from: Together with everyone who lives in and around Basel, Sinfonieorchester Basel wants to immerse itself in the tradition of Swiss folk music. As part of the cross-generational sing-along project ‹Vo Bärg und Tal›, around two hundred participants joined our survey to choose the most popular Swiss folk songs from all four national languages. With full orchestra and up to 1400 singers in the audience and on stage, the Stadtcasino Basel will be the setting of an exceptional folk music festival.
