No to the division of the cultural city of Basel!

The Sinfonieorchester Basel is firmly opposed to the ‹Musikvielfalt Initiative› (initiative for musical diversity). This initiative jeopardises the proven model of balanced cultural funding in Basel and threatens to divide our diverse cultural landscape.

We are in favour of solidarity between all cultural practitioners and reject a distribution war. Fair cultural funding must remain flexible and holistic in order to secure Basel's position as a leading cultural city.

Together we can shape the future of Basel's culture – without division, with diversity and quality for all.

Flâneur Festival

From 5 to 7 September 2024, we will be part of the Flâneur Festival in Elisabethenstrasse. Come and visit us at stand no. 60, find out about upcoming concerts and win great prizes playing darts! Interview with the 2024/25 season's Artist in Residence
Harp virtuoso Xavier de Maistre will make his debut with the Sinfonieorchester Basel at the opening of the season on 11 and 12 September at the Stadtcasino Basel. The French musician will take up a residency with the orchestra in the 2024/25 season. This is the perfect opportunity to share his instrument's sonic diversity with Basel audiences.
