As part of the 'offbeat' jazz festival, the Sinfonieorchester Basel meets Stefano Bollani. Bollani is currently one of the most inventive and versatile pianists in his field, combining Italian temperament with humour and charm. The list of his collaborations ranges from jazz greats like Chick Corea and trumpeter Enrico Rava, his long-time patron, to world musicians like Richard Galliano and avant-gardists like Michel Portal. Bollani plays modern jazz just as first-class as George Gershwin and Maurice Ravel, but also interprets neutones like Igor Stravinsky and most recently Frank Zappa. With the latter, he certainly shares the combination of musicality and anarchic humour.
