The Sinfonieorchester Basel's s New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day concert is sure to put you in a festive mood. Look forward to seeing the latest star on the Swiss soprano scene, Chelsea Zurflüh! The winner of the prestigious Concours de Genève will showcase the full range of her talent. Whether in Ambroise Thomas’s dazzling bravura aria Je suis Titania or Johann Strauss’s tongue-in-cheek Fledermaus aria Mein Herr Marquis. Female composers such as the feisty Ethel Smyth and Jeanine Tesori, with The Girl in 14G, lend this New Year’s Eve concert a very special touch. Maestro Giampaolo Bisanti also conducts the orchestra through the rousing polonaise from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and two overtures by Rossini and Donizetti – from his native Italy, of course!
