Mahler 2 – Resurrection Symphony

Markus Poschner begins his first season as principal conductor of the Sinfonieorchester Basel with Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony, the “Resurrection Symphony”. This monumental work, featuring choir, organ, soprano and alto soloists, unfolds a world of sound ranging from the mysterious “Urlicht” to the overwhelming final apotheosis. Mahler's intention was nothing less than to evoke an “almighty feeling of love”.
