Symphony No. 9 in E minor, op. 95, From the New World
Actually, we had planned to celebrate the literal «resurrection» of the Stadtcasino with Mahler's second symphony in a huge cast. But the protective measures after the lockdown set limits. Our joy at returning to the music hall after four years of wandering will in no way be dampened by this. Beethoven's Consecration of the House and Dvorák's symphony From the New World are symbolically linked to this very special start into a new age of music. Our ‹Artist in Residence› Christina Landshamer presents herself with Mendelssohn's concert aria Infelice and Richard Strauss' orchestral song Morgen!, in which it says: «And tomorrow the sun will shine again, and on the path I shall take, it will once again unite us, the happy ones, in the midst of this sun-breathing earth...»
