Sinfonieorchester Basel Foundation

The Sinfonieorchester Basel is supported by a foundation established in 1988 by the Cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, the Theater Basel and the Allgemeine Musikgesellschaft Basel. According to its statutes, the purpose of the Foundation is to organise, finance and manage a permanent orchestra.

The Sinfonieorchester Basel is funded by a public subsidy from the Canton of Basel-Stadt, which includes a contribution from the Canton of Basel-Landschaft for central cultural services from January 2022. Other sources of funding include income from the orchestra's own events, guest performances and rentals, as well as contributions from third parties such as support grants, sponsors and patrons.
