Tom Sawyer's Adventures
Together with the narrator Vincent Leittersdorf and members of the Sinfonieorchester Basel, this concert takes us to the state of Missouri, to the fictitious little town of St. Petersburg. Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was published in 1876 and became a classic of world literature – not only for young people and children. In the story of the rascal Tom and his best friend Huckleberry Finn are up to no good on the banks of the Mississippi. When the two decide to become pirates, the adventure takes its course. Based on Mark Twain's book, the composer Niels Frédéric Hoffmann has created a version for narrator and small symphony orchestra in 2012.
