Brahms was also often criticised as a conservative - but his last symphony, the Fourth, opens the door to the future in terms of harmony and rhythm. Rhythm, on the other hand, is at the centre of the orchestral work Salve by Basel composer Andrea Scartazzini - the Sinfonieorchester Basel premiered it a few years ago for the opening of the remodelled Stadtcasino Basel.
