Works by Johann Strauss, Dmitri Shostakovich, Charles Gounod, Edward Elgar and others
At the end of the year we give ourselves completely over to the rush of the three-quarter take. Look forward to waltz highlights by Johann Strauss, Dmitri Shostakovich, Charles Gounod, Edward Elgar, Richard Rodgers and Joseph Lanner. The Austrian operetta specialist Ernst Theis will conduct the Sinfonieorchester Basel, guests include the British soprano Georgina Melville and the German tenor Daniel Behle. Born in Hamburg, Behle has been living on the Rhine for some time now as a newcomer and enthusiastic Basel resident. He is one of the most internationally sought-after tenors of his time, with an enormously broad repertoire, from Mozart to Wagner and his own compositions. With Barbados-born Georgina Melville, one of the most exciting young singers from the hotspot of the current operetta renaissance, the Komische Oper Berlin, is coming to Basel.
